Florence

Landing in Pisa and wrangling our rental car from a grumpy Italian was a an unpleasant experience that brought up emotions I hadn't felt in 11 years. It had been that long since I visited Italy, a place that I studied abroad for two semesters as a 20 year old Diplomacy & World Affairs student. Long lines, impossible bureaucracy, and dramatic hand gestures were three things I didn't miss. However seeing the overwhelming beauty of the Tuscan countryside as we drove to Florence, and then on to Chianti, quickly dissolved any pent up anxiety I harbored. All I could think and say was 'It's so beautiful, look over there, oh my gosh how can it be so beautiful?!"

As we b-lined it to our lunch winery tour in Chianti, the hills became progressively greener and the roads increasingly more windy. I tried to peek out over the steering wheel to take in more of the mouth watering landscape, but for fear of swerving of a cliff or into oncoming traffic my eyes stuck to the road.
